Juliana Jonsson

Best travel moment:
Sleeping under palm trees in a hammock and eating freshly caught fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner on a small paradisiac white sandy beach island in the Caribbean.

Words of advice:
“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!” (Richard Branson)

Role model:
A role model? I don’t have any specific one, but I believe in Bill Nye’s words, that we can learn from every single person we come across in life:  “Everybody you will ever meet, knows something you don’t”.

Dream not yet achieved:
Visit Antarctica (the only continent I haven’t been to), getting a Flyke (google it!) as my daily means of transportation, Bungee Jumping from the Bloukrans River Bridge (Tsitsikamma, SA), Sky diving over Bora Bora, Motorbike trip through South America and building a hospital for underprivileged kids in Africa…

Three words that sum me up:
Independent, adventurous, positive

More about me:
Ever since I can imagine, I’ve wanted to explore new places and get around – experience what life looks like in other cultures and meet new people. When I graduated from high school, I finally had the freedom to make my own decisions about what I wanted to do next…and I knew what I wanted…to see the world! Family and friends were smiling about my plans in the beginning, but became rather nervous when they realized that I was serious.

My 1-year backpacking trip through South-East Asia, Australia, Tonga, South America, Central America and the USA was the most amazing experience in my life. I met tons of great and inspiring people, made very good friends all over the place, worked as hard as I never worked before to top up my pocket money, was blessed to explore very beautiful spots on earth and simply enjoyed an adventurous and independent time.

I combined my studies with my passion and started to study International Tourism Management in the Netherlands. When I came last year to South Africa to study abroad (Wildlife Management), I fell in love with the country, especially with Cape Town. So I used the opportunity to come back to South Africa to do my internship here. I love to work & travel overseas – and it’s great to help others to do the same as a part of Chilli Adventures!
