Every South African between the age of 18-29, is eligible to apply for the Working Holiday Maker Visa for the UK. This visa is valid for 2 years from your departure date or date of issue by the UK consulate, and allows you to work full time for one year of the total two year period, or part time for the full two years. Chilli Adventures offer various levels of support, from basic visa assistance for the independent traveler, all the way through to full placement option for the less experienced. The choice is yours. So, what’s it like?
The UK is made up of four separate countries - England, Wales, Scotland (Great Britain) and Northern Ireland. People in the UK are generally very friendly and reasonably knowledgeable about Europeans. Britain's big cities (Brighton, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow etc) are melting pots for people of all nationalities and backgrounds and very popular tourist destinations; therefore, jobs in the hospitality industry are common. As 24-hour cities - they have lots to offer with a wide selection of shops, nightclubs, theatres and tourist attractions. What kinds of job are available?
The job possibilities are only really restricted by your stills or experience. There are many positions available from secretaries through to builders, from work in the IT industry to teaching. Work is also plentiful in the more seasonal positions as well as the "traditional" backpackers jobs - including restaurant and hospitality work, fruit-picking, packing, au pairing, call centers, care work and babysitting. You can find a job anywhere in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - the freedom of choice is yours.
